Frank centurion
Frank Centurion lives and works in London. Graduated with a degree in fine art painting from Staffordshire University in 1985 continued studies and gained a printmaking diploma from Central St Martins, London in 1988.
Continued to paint and exhibit whilst also working as a graphic designer in the commercial world and later worked as an art director and set designer working for the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK
Recently work has concentrated on ceramic sculpture forms. The process of making the work is that they are originally carved from ‘breeze’ blocks ( A cement based material) used for building houses. A cast is then and a ceramic version is produced.
The animal themes are influenced by folk and tribal art and contain strong graphic and design themes. The strong profiles and the use of Scrafitto and rhythmic colour invoke a visceral response from the viewer.
